He watches WWE, I watch Bachelor in Paradise. We both love Italian food. This list could go on, but this is our love story.
I remember exactly what he wore, the day we met. Well, the day I spotted him walk through our classroom door. August 2014. It was the beginning of Fall semester of my sophomore year at UNLV. Matt walked into our ‘intro to PR and marketing’ class wearing cowboy boots, jeans and a cut off flannel. Maybe it was his outfit that caught my eye initially, but his intelligence, kindness and his ability to love made me fall for him.I joined a collegiate chapter of PRSSA and at our first meeting, Matthew was there. Of course, I sat right next to him. He gave me this weird expression of “of all the seats in this room you sit next to me?”. There really were a lot of open seats to sit at haha. That small talk during that meeting lead to countless nights Matthew visiting me at my second job, late night texting, and library study dates.
I feel like I talked a TON during the months we got to know each other. (we were friends for four months before we made it official) Matt was timid and to this day, he says he was just always nervous around me. I was just really excited to get to know him! We’d sit on my condo’s balcony and just talk and talk for hours.
Our first date was him cooking me spaghetti. We found out we both loved Italian food and I found out he was part Italian. All the time I thought he was Hispanic – haha!
Fast forward three and half years later and we’re college graduates, working our dream careers and most recently, homeowners. Matt, you are my better half. You are the seriousness to my free spirited-ness hahah. You love me unconditionally and respect me. Thank you for loving me the way you do.
