As I’m going though my 2016 photo albums, I realized I never shared photos from my trip to Boston. Man, if you haven’t visited this city, I highly suggest you add it to your list of destinations to explore. Throughout this trip, I may or may not have had two or more cannolis.
North End, Boston
If you see Mother Anna’s sign, you know you’ve made it to the North End. Matthew’s great grandparents lived in this area when they hopped off the boat from Sicily. Last year, we visited the apartment they lived in and the current family happened to walk up to to their home when we were taking photos in front of the door. Awkward? Absolutely not! They kindly let us into the home! Matt’s mom was freaking out (on the inside), but it was so cool to see the exposed brick and how many updates were made to the apartment.
Food. Okay, there are restaurants after restaurants and you can literally smell all the aromas as soon as you turn the corner. We didn’t eat at Mother Anna’s or Tresca…we ate at Florentine Cafe. Yes, I ate pasta. How could I not?
It’s similar to the North End, but with less restaurants and more apartment living and hotels. In the photo below you can see the sign on the left that says ‘Beacon Hill Hotel & Bistro’. It’s a cozy hotel with a rooftop patio. I definitely want stay here the next time I come. Plus, there is a good Bistro in the hotel as well. If anyone wants to split an apartment in Beacon Hill, let me know! Kidding. Sort of.
